About Me
I am a family man, a Humboldt County native, an advocate for salmon and their habitats, and I am engaged in a spiritual journey based on immersion in Nature.
I grew up learning about fish and their needs. As with teachings about Native Americans, slavery and the oppression of women and minorities, I was taken aback and adopted ideals as valid targets for my own experience. Well, we know that social struggles are far from over, and what I came to learn about animals and their habitats is that we as a society are still firmly stuck in a mode of degradation and decline of wild stocks due to our own short-sightedness. I wish to spend my life promoting messages of balance, appreciation and living in a way that future generations of my own species will appreciate. Fishing is my Temple of Worship.
Extraordinary Experiences
I have been guiding professionally since 2014 and kayak fishing recreationally since 1999. I have been involved in a life saving experience at Lake Tahoe, and I have had a Great White Shark swim by my yak. I consider myself ready for whatever life throws my way.
My Beliefs
My father taught me that “life isn’t fair”. He also taught me that doing the right thing is not about directly benefiting yourself. I try to live with these things in mind:
- Respect for others
- Respect for animals and habitats
- Respect for self
